Mjóeyri Travel Service is a small family business, owned and operated by husband and wife, Sævar Guðjónsson and Berglind Ingvarsdóttir. We offer accommodation in our charming guesthouse and cottages, located by the sea on the small peninsula of Mjóeyri, just outside the village of Eskifjörður.

Our guesthouse is set in a historic house, built inn 1895. The house has been refurbished and preserves the atmosphere of older times warmth and comfort. The guesthouse boasts stunning views of the fjords and the surrounding mountains.

We also operate the unique restaurant, Randúlffsjóhús, where you can taste local delicacies and traditional Icelandic dishes, served in the unique setting the restaurant offers. Randúlffsjóhús is open during the summer season, from June – September.

The area has great potential for outdoor activities and recreation. Mjóeyri Travel Service operates guiding tours, hunting tours and hiking tours. Mjoeyri is the perfect basecamp for further travels around east Iceland and the eastern fjords, not to mention the numerous exciting opportunities for travellers and outdoor enthusiasts that the Eskifjordur area has to offer.

Eskifjörður is a charming seaside village, located in the middle of the Eastern Fjords in Iceland. It is home to around 1100 people and is best known for being a fishing village. The village is towered by the impressive Hólmatindur mountain, 985 m high and makes for a challenging hike, but the views on the top make it well worth it.

The village provides all basic services to travellers, such as coffee houses, health care services, restaurants and a grocery store.

The most popular activities and sights of the town include the seafaring museum, located in an old trade house, built in 1816 and the spar mine, which is the best-known of its kind in the world. Spar was mined there until the 20th century and the mine has now been designated as a natural heritage. Other popular activities are the golf course, museums, the local swimming pool and the town’s ski area. The area has a variety of hiking paths for travellers of all fitness level.

For all information about Eskifjörður and the surrounding area, please visit the town’s official website.
