Paradise in Iceland
Hellishólar was built in 1952 and was a traditional farm until the year 2000. In 2000, the farmer who had lived and worked on the farm since 1990 decided to abandon the traditional farming operations and operate the tourism industry. It was decided to make the land a tourist accommodation with a variety of facilities and services, and all the livestock and production rights of the land were sold. In the first half of 2001, the construction of tourism facilities began.
At the end of 2004 Víðir Jóhannsson bought the farm. Since then, Víðir has made a great development on Hellishólar which is one of the largest tourist attractions in Iceland.
Today, Hellishólar is:
- 36-room hotel
- 15 room guesthouses
- 24 cottages
- Restaurant
- Camping site
- Children’s playground
- 9 hole golf course
- Fishing lake
- Salmon fishing lake
- Nice hiking part
The main goal of the staff at Hellishóla is to make everyone feel good during their stay and therefore always have their eyes open on how to make the place one of the best paradise in Iceland.
