In Efstidalur you will get a unique and different experience. Right in the middle of the Golden Circle, you get a glance of the farm life in Iceland. This family farm has opened up for tourists and offers a variety of products straight from the farm, such as the famous ice cream, skyr and feta cheese. The restaurant also offers beef from the farm and other local food.
Efstidalur II is run by four siblings and their families. They recently took over the business from their parents that started and developed the concept with them as it is today. The siblings are the 7th generation living on the property but their family has been living on Efstidalur II since around 1750. They are dairy farmers first and foremost, but since 2002 the business has developed with increased tourism in the area. In 2013 they opened the restaurant and café and began to make their own products from their milk that they offer our guest to taste and enjoy.

Hlöðuloftið restaurant is a walk-in concept that offers so-called farm to table dining, which means that we produce our own dairy products and meat and get our vegetables from the surrounding farms. We focus on quality ingredients and delicious taste. Contact us for group menus.
Íshlaðan ice cream barn

We hope that everyone gets the chance to taste our organic and home-made ice cream. Made from our own cows, the ice cream is as fresh as it gets. Stop by the ice cream barn for a taste when driving around South Iceland – we promise you won’t regret it.
Efstidalur Horse Rental
Efstidalur is full of animals and all sorts of wildlife. You don’t have to walk far to see a whole host of animals all around the farm. From the family’s dog when you arrive, the cows in the barn overlooking the restaurant, or the horses running in the surrounding fields.
At Efstidalur you are able to get up close and personal with all the furry friends, especially the horses as we offer riding tours during the summer.

Efstidalur offers a warm and homely accommodation at our farm hotel. We have a range of double, twin, triple and family rooms that each has its own charm. We offer rooms with private bathrooms and shared bathroom facilities.
Our guests have the opportunity to interact with the variety of farm animals, including our dogs, horses and cows. During the summer we offer to ride tours from your farm. The farm hotel has an onsite restaurant that specialises in ‘farm-to-table dining’ which means that we produce all of our meat, dairy products on the farm and get our vegetables from the surrounding farms. There is a hot tub on our patio that guests are welcome to use, and is a perfect way to relax after a day of activities.
Efstidalur Farm Hotel is perfectly located in South Iceland with many of the regions major natural attractions within relatively short driving distances, including the popular Golden Circle route. The hotel is therefore ideal to serve as a base when travelling and exploring the South region of Iceland.
