Welcome to the family
Frumskógar guesthouse is a family-run guesthouse, owned and operated by Kolbrún Bjarnadóttir and Morten Geir Ottesen. Morten’s father, Oddgeir Ágúst Ottesen, first opened the guesthouse on the upper floor of the family house at Frumskógar in 1973. Oddgeir was an enterprising man who alongside his work was very socially active and took diligent care of his hens in his hen sheds in the back garden.
Morten, the sixth in a row of eight siblings, later took over the operation with his wife Kolbrún. The couple lived on the upper floor at Frumskógar for the first years of their married life and welcomed two children while living there. The hospitality for which the Frumskógar home was famous continues to thrive, although the hen sheds have long since been replaced by roomy apartments.
The apartments are very comfortable and can accommodate up to five people. They include a bedroom, a well equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower facilities and a living room with flat screen television and radio. All apartments have free WiFi.
Our quiet upper floor has four bright and cozy double rooms. Guests have access to two shared bathrooms, one of which has shower facilities. The rooms all contain a sink and have access to free WiFi.
Our guests have free access to WiFi and our spa area with hot tub, steam bath and an outdoor shower. All accommodation has a folder containing menus from local restaurants and suggestions for interesting day-tours in the area.
Breakfast & LUNCH PACKS
Breakfast is served in our breakfast hall between 8-10 and must be booked in advance. Guests can also pre-order takeaway lunch packs that include a sandwich, a drink and a snack. One of the breads on the breakfast table is a sweet rye bread, traditionally cooked for 12 hours in geothermal steam. Best with butter and cheese!
