HOF – Cultural and Conference Center, is located in the heart of Akureyri Hof Culture Society is a private institution founded in October 2008. The main objective of the society is to operate the Hof culture building according to an agreement with the municipality of Akureyri.
The Hof Culture Society receives a yearly contribution from the municipality of Akureyri but in addition the income from the Society itself is supposed to fund the operation. The board of Hof Cultural Society is comprised of Þórleifur Stefánsson, Hildur Eir Bolladóttir and Þorvaldur Lúðvík Kristj Concerts and Performing Arts Akureyri Culture Society (ACS) offers excellent facilities for different kind of events.
There are two large halls in Hof, Hamraborg and Hamrar. Hamraborg has 510 seats, fixed to a sloping floor with a traditional movie theatre setting. Hamrar has a flat floor, movable seats and a movable stage. The accoustics in the premises of Hof are the best available and the halls are easily adjustable to the characteristics and the scope of different events. Hof has a spacious backstage facility in the basement of the house, with for example five dressing rooms, a green room and facilities for hair and makeup.
Samkomuhúsið is an exceptionally beautiful building inside and out, almost 110 years old in the heart of Akureyri. The hall in Samkomuhúsið seats 210 people. The seats are fixed to a sloping floor in a traditional theatre setting.

State-of-the-art conference facilities, first class equipment and service
The conference town of Akureyri is a world in its own league. It is a peaceful town, with short distances and easy to hold a group together in work and play. Akureyri offers first class service in all areas and it is very easy to treat you and your guests. Entertainment options are endless all year round, whether you are interested in tours, group entertainment, sports, cultural events, presentations or education.
ACS offers a variety of spaces for big or small meetings and/or conferences, both in Hof and Samkomuhúsið. All meeting rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, i.e. projectors, screens and sound system. ACS also offers catering services and office facilities for the administrator/coordinator of the conference. We can also offer the coordinators a list of cultural activities produced by ACS or that ACS can arrange for ordering and a list of shorter trips available for groups.
Elegant surroundings for celebrations and receptions
ACS offers elegant surroundings for receptions and celebrations in Hof and Samkomuhúsið. The best possible experience for the guests is the main emphasis, whether it is a wedding, birthday, confirmation, a party or a gala dinner. The restaurant in Hof is on two floors and seats up to 120 people. It can though with small effort host an up to 500 people party by opening up adjacent spaces. By joining together a few spaces in the building it is possible to host a reception for 1000 people. More info : Receptions and parties
Exhibitions All year round there are visual arts shows in Hof. The shows are held in the open spaces of the building. Hamragil is the life of the building. It is a bright, open space with ceiling height of 14 meters. The walls of Hamragil are made of betong brut and in the same space you will find the restaurant, located on the ground floor, on a bright platform in the south end of the building.
Leyningur is a sort of corner in Hamragil. The space is just under 30 m2 and can be entered in two places. The walls in Leyningur are white. Naustið is a hallway in front of Hamraborg, the building´s main hall. The hall is very open and bright with tall ceilings. The walls of Naustið are white. It has big windows and glass doors facing south.
Other spaces It is also possible to put up visual arts shows on the walls of the 2.floor. There you can also find meeting rooms and offices. Gift Card – Great Gift You can use our gift card to buy tickets to any events in Hof Cultural Center or the Akureyri Theater. Use it to buy souvenirs and Icelandic design in Kista or have food and drinks at 1862 Nordic Bistro.

- Kista Kista is a shop on the ground floor in Hof Cultural Center. There you can find goods of various kinds, but the stores main attraction is Icelandic design.
The Box Office in Hof is open Mon – Fri at 12-18 and three hours before any event during weekends
